Vehicle accident and Personal Injury claims are handled by Motor Accident Claims Tribunal at Chennai .Compensation claims are filed according to the Motor Vehicles Act and MACT rules.The quantum of the compensation for a victim is arrived based upon hisage, job, number of dependants, medical expenditures amongst other factors of law.Accident has to be Registered by the Hospital upon admission and First Information Report should be filed within 24 hrs of the occurrence of accident . If any delay in filing the complaint the same should be reasoned. The speedier disposal of cases are encouraged by the judiciary through Lok Adalat Committee formed for the purpose of arriving an out of Court Settlement.
